The ultimate sfoglina rolling pin: a sfoglina’s dream
The Romagnoli family has been creating handmade rolling pins (“mattarello” or “matterello” in Italian) for decades. After years of testing different woods and studying Nonno Ferrando Romagnoli’s recently-found sketches, Filippo Romagnoli launched the ultimate sfoglina mattarello in 2023, which has been praised by pasta lovers as well as home bakers and pastry obsessives from all around the world. It is the longest matterello you’ve dreamed of: it is long up to 44’’ (110 cm) and with a diameter of 1.85″ ( 4.7cm).
Created by Filippo in his Tuscan workshop with precious beech tree wood from Unesco Ancient Primeval Casentino’s Beech Forest in Tuscany, this versatile rolling pin is the perfect Italian gift for passionate cooks, professional chefs and pasta makers, who want to bring Italy’s artisan tradition into their kitchens.
The National Casentino Forest spreads between Tuscany (home to Italian artisans) and Emilia Romagna (home to Italian fresh pasta and sfoglina tradition), which is what makes the heritage of this rolling pin so special. Casentino beech tree wood is particularly solid and density high, making this mattarello last a lifetime.
The ultimate sfoglina rolling pin is available in different sizes, from 17.7″ up to 44” (110cm) – a true celebration of authentic Italian craftsmanship.
